Michael "Mick" Freeland McDuffey, 77, of Shelbyville

Michael “Mick” Freeland McDuffey, 77, of Shelbyville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at his home in Shelbyville, Indiana.

 

Mick was born in Shelbyville, Indiana to Rosco Freeland McDuffey and Pauline (Brown) on July 8, 1943.  Mick attended and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1961.  He worked several years as a supervisor for Overhead Door Company until their closure, and then went on to become the supervisor for KCL Corporation until their closure in 2004. Mick was an active member of Second Baptist Church, where he was the chairman of the Trustee Board, a member of the Brotherhood Men’s Group, and the dedicated and beloved van driver for the Children’s Sunday School. Mick spent his earlier years enjoying and being active playing softball, bowling, fishing, and hunting. After retiring, Mick could always be found supporting his grandchildren and other family members in their sporting and school events. He also enjoyed and took pride in coaching his grandsons in the SEFA Football League. He was an avid sports fan who was always supporting Indiana University Hoosiers and the Indianapolis Colts. Mick could also be found enjoying his retirement gambling at the casino!

 

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Paul(Norma)McDuffey; Micka(Teddy)Kincaid, Janel French; Stepchildren: Mark(Erin) Staten; Yvette(Josh)Gooding; Thomas (Laura) Sadler; Shawn(Reda)French; Larry Sims; Robin French; Nicole(Samuel) Terrell; Jerra French; Brother: Jack(Janet) McDuffey; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family.

 

Beside his parents, Mick was preceded in death by his sister: Ruth Anne White; brothers Douglas L. McDuffey, Sr. and Norman Pete Brown; daughter: Micki Lynn McDuffey Brewer; stepson: Brandon M. French;

 

Visitation for Mick will be Saturday, November 7th from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 PM at Murphy-Parks Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 12:00PM with the Moderator Anthony B. Toran of Galatian Baptist Church of New Albany, Indiana officiating the services. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery Arrangements have been entrusted to Murphy-Parks Funeral Home and the Parks Family.
