Joshua Wayne Sowder, 40, Greenfield, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021. He was born on June 2, 1980 in Cincinnati, OH to Robert and Mary (LeCount) Sowder. Josh is a 1998 Greenfield Central High School graduate. He would later attend Penn State earning an associate’s degree via an apprenticeship.

In Josh’s younger years, he made state champion on the East Central High School football team, 1995-1996. He played on Greenfield Central’s High School Cougar football team. He also played on an independent rugby team for a few years. Josh was employed as a sprinkler fitter for Dalmatian Fire Protection in Indianapolis for over 15 years. He was a member of Local 669. He enjoyed bowling and was on Strike Force Lanes’ leagues for many years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and carpentry. He was also an avid golfer, had a contagious smile, and was extremely dedicated to his family, especially his children.

He is survived by his loving children: Ethan Sowder and Isabella Sowder; loving mother, Mary Tomlin; loving father, Robert (Kay) Sowder; awesome brother and coworker, Jess (Trina) Sowder; step-sister, Shanna Joseph; nephews: Owen Carter, Tyler Hook, and Bryce Sowder; niece, Maci Sowder; and many aunts and uncles.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister, Rebecca Hook.
