Steven L. Heuer, 72, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born December 22, 1948 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Vernon Heuer and
Naomi (Burns) Heuer.. He married Geraldine (Trimble) Heuer on August 28, 1971
and she survives.
Other survivors include 3 daughters- Cheryl Stevens of Pelham, New Hampshire,
Carri Tressler of Shelbyville, Mindy Sturgill of Shelbyville; brother Gary Heuer of
Milan, sister Marilyn Turner (husband Doug) of Milan; 7 grandchildren- Caleb Sturgill,
Isaac Stevens, Benjamin Weller, Morgan Stevens, Elijah Sturgill, Charlotte Weller,
and Danielle Tressler. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Pete Heuer,
and a sister Judith Monroe.
Mr. Heuer was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Waldron High School in
1967. He had been a technician at Knauf Fiber Glass for over 30 years, retiring in 2003.
He was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church, Farmers Lodge #147 F&AM, American
Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. He was a US Army
veteran, serving in Vietnam with the 25th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, attaining the rank
of sergeant.
Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing, attending his grandchildren's sporting and academic events,
gardening, riding his four wheeler, and was an excellent husband and father.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral
Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Brian Ebersold officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Creek
Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from10:00 am until 12:30 pm, at which time
Masonic rites will be performed. Graveside military services will be conducted by a local
veterans organization.
