Dorothy F. Knapp, 83, of Shelbyville

Dorothy F. Knapp, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021

at MHP Medical Center.

 

Born June 16, 1938 in Sandborn Indiana (Sullivan County) she was the daughter of Francis Mathew Padgett and Dorothy Lee (Martin) Padgett.  She married Richard C. Danford on March 1, 1957 and he passed away on April 16, 2000.  She then married George C. Knapp in March of 1991 and he preceded her in 2006.

 

Survivors include 3 children- Richard M. Danford (wife Vicki L.) of Shelbyville, Carla S. Babbs of Fishers, Sherri L. Cook (husband Daniel B.) of Millstone, Kentucky; sister Joann Frost of Dalton, Georgia; 6 grandchildren- Tamara L. Hull (husband Darrell), Virginia E. Cook (s/o Chris Joseph), Kevin M. Danford (wife Kasie), Deanna M. Danford (s/o Alex Jackson), Toni Benner, James Benner; and her fur baby Missy.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 spouses, 2 sisters- Norma

Rose Smith and Lola Tacy Murrell.

 

Mrs. Knapp was a resident of this area since 1957, after moving from Coal City. 

She graduated from Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, Indiana.  She had been a computer data programmer with Ford Motor Company,  retiring after 28 years of service.

 

Dorothy enjoyed playing music (she could play the piano, organ, also sax, clarinet, and dulcimer), square dancing, playing cards and board games, and buying and fixing up old homes.

 

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. David Humphrey officiating.  Burial will be in London Cemetery. 

 

Friends may call on Friday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to Hamilton County Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
