Donia R. Coots, 85, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday January 27, 2022 at

her residence.

Born June 6, 1936 in Leitchfield, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Roy Cockriel

and Bessie (Hayes) Cockriel.  She married Herbert D. Coots on February 26, 1966

and he survives.

Other survivors include a daughter Sandy Johnson of St. Paul; a brother Edward Cockriel (wife Tina) of Leitchfield; a sister Kathern Hazelwood of Louisville; 3 grandchildren- Michael

Gibson (wife Lacy), Kelly Shine (husband Chris), Dr. Chasity Stahl (husband Josh); and 6 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Thomas Cockriel, sisters- Frankie Meredith, Shirley Milliner, and Lizzie Mae Brooks.

Mrs. Coots had lived in this area since 1959, after moving from Kentucky.  She had been a factory worker at the Garment Factory, worked 14 years at the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Shelbyville, KCL Corp. for 14 years, and managed Colonial Laundry for several  years.  

She was a member of the Waldron  Baptist Church.

Donia enjoyed shopping, coffee and diet Coke, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral  Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Kim Jarrett officiating.   

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday evening, February 3, 2022 at the funeral home.
