Genevieve Eileen (Straight) Stephenson, 94, Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
Eileen was born on January 7, 1928, Sistersville, West Virginia to Irwin Maurice and Golda Vivian (Billman) Straight.
She graduated from Antioch High School as well as The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
Early in Eileen’s career, she worked at the Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. Later, she worked at J.C. Penney in Marion, Ohio. She was a long-time member of Central Christian Church in Marion. Recently, she became a member of the Greenfield Christian Church. Eileen loved watching sports, especially OSU football and basketball. She drove friends and fellow church members to their appointments. She also helped keep records for the church treasurer. Eileen enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and playing card games with family and friends.
Eileen is survived by her loving sister, Claire DeVoe; nieces and nephews: Dianne DeVoe Walker, David (Cindy) Winkel, Sandra (Arlin) Koglin, Mark (Lulu) Winkel, Beverly (Mark) Swan, and Kevin (Carrie) Winkel; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews: Brett, Dustin, Chris, Sarah, Rebecca, Matthew, Mark, Deanna, Kyle, Abby, Reese, Rachel, Steve, Charlott, and Drew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marguerite Winkel; and nephews, Dana DeVoe and Lee Walker.
The family is grateful to her long-time friend and minister, Merlyn Winters, the members of the Greenfield Christian Church for their kindness, love, and support, and to caregiver, Matthew Chandler, for the countless ways he made her days better!
A graveside service will be held in the near future at Park Cemetery, Greenfield, officiated by good friend, Merlyn. Kindly continue to check back on the date.
