John William Royer, 78, of Greenfield

John William Royer, 78, of Greenfield, passed away October 25, 2022, at Morristown Manor. He was born on October 25, 1944, in Indianapolis to the late Clyde Wilbur and Mary Margaret (Krischak) Royer.

 

Throughout life, John was a devote catholic and often served as an alter boy. He is a 1962 graduate of Scecina High School. While in high school, he was in the choir and Glee Club. He later attended Ivy Tech Community College studying electronics.

 

John worked at General Motors in Indianapolis for many years. From there, he moved to Knauf where he retired in 2007. John had a love for classic cars as he owned a few and was also a long-time member of the Brandywine Cruisers Car Club. John also had a love for music; all types of music. John attended Sugar Creek Baptist Church. John married Leatrice Hogue on December 30, 1963 and was married for 56 years before she passed on July 13, 2020. John also shared the date of October 25th as special occasions to celebrate birthdays of his lovely wife and a grandson.

 

He is survived by his children, Tammy (John) Balakin and John “Chris” Royer; nine wonderful grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Jack (Kathy) Royer.

 

He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Royer and mother, Mary Leighty; wife, Leatrice Royer; and sister, Mary Margaret “Sissy” Harrison.

 

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield with Pastor Steve Blanchard officiating.

 

Friends are encouraged to drive their classic beauties and attend visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.

 

Burial will immediately follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
