Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Cradic, 90, of Fairland

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Cradic, 90, of Fairland, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023 at her residence.

 

Born March 28, 1933 in Freelandville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Clarence Leo Purcell and Armilda (Stinnett) Purcell.  She married Ezra Paul Cradic on November 27, 1957, and he preceded her on October 28, 2019.

 

Survivors include: 2 loving children- Kristi S. Buis (husband Larry) of Fairland, Kara L. Cradic of Fairland; a sister Linda Sue Cheatham of Terre Haute; a brother Larry Purcell (wife Diane) of Greenwood; 6 grandchildren- Lindsey Rush (husband Ryan), Courtney E. Allen, Spencer E. Ayers, Keiara M. Lewis, Matthew Buis, Peyton M.

Buis; 11 great grandchildren- Kalyn Dant, Logan Hosford Rush, Khloe Hosford Rush, Nicholas Rush, Braydon Chasteen, Everleigh Lord, Brooklyn Allen, Carlee Allen, Bailey Allen, Charlotte Allen, Molly Allen; and Laurie Zinman, whom Betty loved as a daughter, who, along with her daughter Kara, was there for her at the end of her life.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, sister Emma Lou Duncan, 2 brothers- Paul Purcell and Warren Purcell, and grandson-in-law Carl Ray Allen.

 

Mrs. Cradic had lived in this area for over 60 years, after moving from Indianapolis.  She graduated from Freelandville  High School in 1951 and attended radiology school at Methodist Hospital. 

 

She worked as Director of Radiology at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, retiring after many years of service. 

 

She was a member of Boggstown Presbyterian Church and attended Fairland Christian Church.  She was a member of Fairland Eastern Star, and a member of American Society of Radiology Technology.

 

Betty was an avid Indiana University basketball fan, and enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, driving in their Model A  "Old Bet", and especially loved all her grandchildren with all her heart. 

 

Betty was a talented guitar and harmonica player, traveling with her family's  gospel  group, The Purcell Family, singing and playing in various churches.  

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Jolita Erbele officiating. 

 

Burial will be in Boggstown Cemetery. 

 

Friends may call on Thursday evening, April 20, 2023 at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  An Eastern Star service will be observed at 7:30 pm on  Thursday evening.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter, or ASRT Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
