Helen Louise Hoskins, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023, at her home.

She was born January 6, 1955, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Carrine and Nell (Fuqua) Hoskins.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Jessie Staten of Shelbyville; and sister, Linda Hoskins of Indianapolis.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her daughters, Angel Salas and Tina Salas; brothers, James Hoskins, L.V. “Buddy” Hoskins, Sam Hoskins, Wayne Hoskins and Danny Hoskins; sisters, Evelyn Cape, Shirley Cape, Mary Adams, Jenny Chew and Frieda Richardson.

Helen formerly worked for Eli Lilly and Wilhelm as an electrician and construction worker.

She enjoyed watching television evangelist, John Hagee.

Helen also enjoyed collecting recipes, and listening to Elvis Presley and Engelbert Humperdinck.  Watching old television shows with her daughter, was a favorite pastime for both of them.

She was preceded in death by her dogs, Duke and Frankie.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the funeral home, with Dennis Carnes officiating.

Interment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
