Ronald E. "Ron" Cooper, 72, of Shelbyville

Ronald E. "Ron" Cooper, 72, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023

at Hickory Creek in Franklin.

Born November 6, 1950 in Muncie, he was the son of Samuel H. Cooper and Thelma (Harris) Cooper. He married Paula (Houston) Cooper on June 6, 1990 and she survives.

Survivors include children- Greg Cooper (Susan) of Texas, Scott Cooper (Monica) of Colorado, Michelle Drew (Joe) of Alaska, Tawyna Culhane (Brian) of Texas, Kelly Hodges of Crawfordsville, stepson Nathaniel Holdren (Robin) of Shelbyville, 3 stepdaughters- Lynn Fox (Richard) of Shelbyville, Laurie Wilson of Shelbyville, Patricia Sandman (Burke) of Greensburg; 2 brothers- Samuel Cooper of

Anderson, David Cooper (Karen) of Florida; 3 sisters- Mary Stephenson (Mike) of Anderson, Ann Voland (Bill) of Muncie, and Ruth Kiger (Jeff) of Muncie. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great  grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and step great  grandchildren, and many nieces and

nephews, who called him "Uncle Wonderful".  He was preceded  in death by his parents, half brother John Cooper, half sister Euretta Rowles, great grandson Evan Fox, and step grandson Chris Macleod.

Mr. Cooper had lived in this area for 33 years, after moving from Muncie.  He graduated from Wes-Del High School in 1969, and was a member of Sons of the American Legion Post #70.  He had been  employed with Wal Mart/Sam's Club, retiring in 2013, after 22 years of service.

Ron enjoyed music and singing karaoke, buying, selling, and collecting antiques, watching NASCAR racing, working puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Robb Barlow officiating. 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. 

Friends may call on Monday afternoon, from 1:00 pm until the time of the service, at the funeral home.  

Memorial contributions can be made to Shelby County Cancer Assn., in care of the funeral home.
