Johnny R. Stephens, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at

the Willows of Greensburg.

Born February 2, 1943 in Russell Springs, Kentucky, he was the son of Jona Stephens and Riffie (Wilson) Stephens.  He married Elizabeth Louise (McNeely) Stephens on January 6, 1962, and she preceded him on July 24, 2014.

Survivors include a daughter Tammy Barker (husband Keith) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a son, John Stephens of Starke, Florida; a brother, Roland Stephens of Franklin; son-in-law, Duke Williams of Shelbyville; 4 grandchildren- Hannah Barker (husband Ed Herbers), Tiffany Craig (husband Ian), Leahann Degelow (husband Will), Bobbi Williams; 6 great grandchildren- Jacob, Caroline, Billie, Malachi, Jocelynne, & Jensen. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse, a daughter- Christina Williams, 2 brothers- Buster & Ed Stephens, and 5 sisters- Vernie Bennett, Mary Gadsberry, Faye Stephens, Maurice Stephens, and Mayvline Smith.

Mr. Stephens had lived in this area for most of his lifetime, and attended Needham schools. 

He had been a tool and die maker  at Arvin's of Franklin, retiring after 35 years of service. 

He was a member of American Legion Post #70, and Eagles Lodge #766 of Shelbyville.

He was a US Army veteran.

Johnny enjoyed fishing, camping, watching old Westerns on TV, and socializing at the Legion and the Eagles.  

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd. with Rev. David Humphrey officiating. 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. 

Friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion.
