Charles H. Farmer, Jr., 85, former Fairland resident

Charles H. Farmer, Jr., 85, former Fairland resident, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023 at Compassus Hospice Facility in Indianapolis.

Born January 13, 1938 in Lynch, Kentucky, he was the son of Charles H. Farmer, Sr. and Grace (Maggard) Farmer.  He married Joyce Anne (Morgan) Farmer on September 22, 1958 and she preceded him on  September 17, 2012.

Survivors include 4 children- Mark Farmer (wife Jane) of Owensboro, Kentucky, Rick Farmer (wife Terri) of Plainfield, Lesia Kim (husband Jimi) of Carmel, John Farmer (wife Bridgett) of Charleston, South Carolina;= sister Maryanne Dawhare of Lexington, Kentucky; and sister-in-law Betty Farmer of Golthwaite, Texas; 11

grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse, and a brother Bill Farmer.

Mr. Farmer lived most of his lifetime in this area, after moving from Kentucky.  He graduated from Cumberland High School in Cumberland, Kentucky, and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. 

He had been employed as a mechanical engineer at Indiana State Gear of Indianapolis, retiring after 50 years of service.

Charles enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He was very actively involved in his church and church activities.  His family and his faith were a priority in his life.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Kern officiating. 

Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery. 

Friends may call on Monday afternoon from 2:00 pm until the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, in care off the funeral home.
