Shari Mae (Vernon) Meyer, 88, Fairland

Shari Mae (Vernon) Meyer, 88, Fairland, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at her home.

Born December 2, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ray Vernon and Helen (McNew) Vernon.  

She married Donald Meyer on October 26, 1952 and he preceded her on August 11, 2020.

Survivors include five children:  Robert Meyer (wife Pam) of Fairland, Christie Miller-Leaser (husband Mark) of Shelbyville, James Meyer (wife Jan) of Shelbyville, Kimberlie Mobley of Louisville, Kentucky, and Cathie Faust (husband Charlie) of Joshua, Texas; sister Margie VanMeter (husband Larry) of Shelbyville; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, sisters Rae Ellen Williams, JoAnn Bowers, and a granddaughter.

Mrs. Meyer lived all of her life in the Fairland area.  She graduated from Fairland High School and was a member of the New Life United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau Band as well as a charter member of the Shelby Community Band where she enjoyed playing her clarinet. She also participated in the Rushville Big Band ensemble playing saxophone. Shari was a licensed cosmetologist and aesthetician and a Mary Kay Consultant. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending many of their activities.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, with calling hours at 10:00 am on Monday, November 27, 2023 at New Life United Methodist Church, 6145 N. 400 W., Fairland, IN with Pastor Ed Fisher officiating.

Burial will be at the Fairland Cemetery.

Friends and family may call on Sunday, November 26, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, Indiana.
