Carolyn Bridges, 77, of New Palestine

Carolyn Bridges, 77, of New Palestine, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday November 28, 2023.

Carolyn was born June 1, 1946 in Grammer Indiana along with her twin brother Bobby Grounds.  She was the daughter of George and Ruby (Plumlee) Grounds.  The Grounds family moved quite often but eventually settled in Shelby County.  Carolyn graduated from Morristown High School in 1964. 

Carolyn’s worked over 30 years in the insurance industry, eventually retiring from Irwin Union in 2008.  She enjoyed her work and her co-workers; many have been lifetime friends.

Carolyn and her husband Jerry were classmates in high school.  After graduation, their lives took different paths but eventually they reconnected and were married August 26, 1995, and he survives.

Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family the most. She did not have children of her own but loved spending time with her niece and nephew and being a part of their lives. Her family grew when she married Jerry and she became an aunt to many more nieces and nephews and she loved them all. 

Carolyn enjoyed playing Bridge and was part of a Bridge Club for over 20 years.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends, and she also collected clowns. Carolyn and Jerry loved to travel and visit many places during their marriage.  They both were members of the Gwynneville Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Bobby Grounds, Gerald Grounds and Donner Grounds.  In addition to Jerry, Carolyn is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Logan and her brother-in-law Richard Logan.  Her sister-in-law Kay Grounds, Niece, Lisa (Hector) Garcia, Nephew Bruce (Cathy) Logan, Great Nieces, Isabel Garcia and Caitlin Cox.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm. Friday. December 1, 2023 and from 10 to 11 am, Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Gwynneville Christian Church, 7104 E. Mulberry St, Gwynneville.

Funeral Services will follow at 11 am. Saturday at the church with Pastor Ted Hagel officiating.

Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E North St, Morristown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gwynneville Christian Church.
