Betty Joyce Higdon, 81, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at her residence.
Born May 12, 1942 in McKenzie, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Lester Huzzie and Leona (Reaves) Huzzie. She married John Higdon and he preceded her in 2012.
Survivors include 3 children - Beverly Reinhardt of Shelbyville, Gary Bennett of Shelbyville, John Higdon of Shelbyville; 2 sisters- Shirley Grimes of Shelbyville, Sarah King of Sacramento, California; a brother Ray Huzzie of Shelbyville; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother LJ Huzzie.
Mrs. Higdon was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a member of First Church of Pentecost in Shelbyville. She had worked as a nurses aid at Heritage House for over 20 years.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 20, 203 at First Church of Pentecost, 1500 Miller Ave., with Pastor Daniel McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Whispering Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of the service, at the church, on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Shelby County Cancer Association, in care of the funeral home.
