Thomas L. Johns, 88, of St. Paul, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at his residence.

Born October 19, 1935 in Bartholomew County, he was the son of Thomas B. Johns and Pearl (Mink) Johns. He married Carolyn (Hungate) Johns on December 30, 1961, and she preceded him in 2003.

Survivors include 2 children- Beth Harding (husband Mike) of St. Paul, Todd Johns (wife Christina) of St. Paul; companion Lavon Wasson of Hope; sister Helen Patterson of Shelbyville; 4 grandchildren- Sarah Kuntz (husband Aaron), Austin Johns, Cody Johns, James Thomas Johns (Madi); and 2 great grandchildren- Aiden Kuntz and Oliver Johns. He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse, a granddaughter Rachel Harding, brother-in-law James Patterson, and nephew Jay Patterson.

Mr. Johns was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Hope High School. He was an insurance agent for Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance Company retiring in 1997, after 44 years of service. He was a member of Geneva United Methodist Church, Farmer's Masonic Lodge # 147 Norristown, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, St. Paul Kiwanis, and American Legion Post # 70 of Shelbyville. He was a US army veteran.

Tom enjoyed golfing, playing cards, fishing, and attending school events for his grandchildren, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, 106 E. Franklin St in St. Paul, with Rev. Mark Dodd officiating.  Burial will be in Van Pelt Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 11:00 am until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Rachel Harding Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Blue River Foundation of Shelbyville.
