James Reggie Higdon, 83

James Reggie Higdon, 83, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 peacefully with his family by his side.

He was born February 17, 1940 in Grayson County, KY. He was the son of Marshall Anthony and Pearl Ellen Higdon.

He married Vieva June (Lee) Higdon on January 8, 1963, and she survives.

James is also survived by his son, Eddie Allen Higdon (wife, Tammy); daughters, Shannon Malynn Higdon and Daphne Ellen (Higdon) Ezell, (husband, Gary); grandchildren Joshua Higdon, Jonathan Higdon, Jessica (Higdon) Grubbs, Jordan Ezell, and Brooke Ezell, great-grandchildren, Anna Higdon, Emma Higdon, Haylee Higdon, Addy Higdon, Liam Higdon, and Memphis Grubbs; grand-dog, Marley Moose; sisters, Dana Bradley, Carrie Jo Hook, and Candy Higdon; and brother, Terry Higdon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Tucker, Dorothy Smith, and Linda McQueary, brothers, Dale Higdon, and Billy Higdon.

James retired in 2009 after working 45 years at Ford Motor Company. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband, father, papaw, pappy, and a hard-working man.  He loved his family, church, being outside, gardening and deer hunting.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home with Father Mike Keucher officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veteran organizations.

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve James’ family.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
