Trio of home runs nets Golden Bears win No. 20

Kylee Edwards had two doubles and pitched two innings, Addisenn Weaver belted a pair of home runs and Karissa Hamilton added another home run to propel Class 4A, No. 7-ranked Shelbyville to a 12-2 victory Thursday at Indian Creek.

The Golden Bears improved to 20-3 this season.

Hailey Pogue started in the pitcher's circle and allowed one hit while striking out five in three innings of work. Edwards, normally the team's starting shortstop, allowed one hit and struck out two in her 2021 pitching debut.

Four different Golden Bears had two hits -- Edwards, Weaver, Katie Mathies and Pogue.

Weaver's two home runs pushed her season total to eight. Hamilton's bomb was her 20th of the year.

Shelbyville now has 60 home runs in 23 games.

Delaney Heminger had the only two hits for the Braves (4-13).

Shelbyville will host Cambridge City and Fishers Saturday in the Golden Bear Invitational.
