Waldron wins MHC middle school conference track title

Waldron Junior High School's boys track and field program won the Mid-Hoosier Conference Meet Thursday in Waldron. And the school's girls program finished runner-up to South Decatur.

 

The Mohawks captured the boys' title with 97 points. North Decatur was second at 82. Southwestern finished third, one point back, and Morristown was seventh (46).

 

With just one event winner, Will Larrison in the 1,600 (5:18.47), Waldron used its team depth to rack up points. 

 

Southwestern got event wins from Michael Clements in the 400 (59.38) and the long jump (17-4.75) and Ben Schlabach in the 110 hurdles (20.59).

 

Morristown's Wyatt Hodgen was runner-up in the 400 (59.41) and the high jump (4-8).

 

South Decatur held off Waldron to claim the girls' title, 124-118. Morristown finished fourth (45) and Southwestern was sixth (33).

 

Waldron's Lillian Lozier won the 200 (29.92), Claire Larrison took first in the 800 (2:56.09) and the 1,600 (6:14.82), and Alivia Fischer won the discus (71-8).
