Waldron's Bowlby finishes fifth in long jump at regional competition

Tyler Bowlby’s second jump was his best jump – ever.

 

The Waldron senior measured 21 feet, seven inches on his second long jump attempt Thursday at the Warren Central Boys Track and Field Regional.

 

The personal-best distance got him to fifth place in the long jump event. The top three in each event automatically advanced to the state championship meet.

 

Center Grove’s Jackson Schott won the competition at 22-5. Franklin County’s Jacob Schatzle was runner-up at 22-4. Greenfield-Central’s Kirk Knecht earned the final advancing position with a best jump of 21-9.5.

 

Center Grove’s Connor Delp was fourth at 21-9.

 

Triton Central sophomore Brad Schultz finished seventh in the 100 meters (11.24 seconds).

 

Shelbyville junior Sam Price placed 15th in the 400 (54.04).

 

Shelbyville sophomore Beau Kenkel finished 14th in the 1,600 (4:49.79).

 

Triton Central freshman Ethan Cales was 16th in the 110 hurdles (18.54).

 

Triton Central’s 400 relay team of Brayden Wilkins, Anthony Dunville, Ray Crawford and Schultz placed seventh in 44.48.

 

And Triton Central junior Aiden Lindsey finished tied for sixth in the high jump competition after clearing 6-0.
