Collegiate Update: Heath, Hanover collect pair of HCAC victories

Taylor Heath scored eight points and had four rebounds, four assists and two steals Saturday for Hanover College in a 72-47 win over Manchester.

The win improved the Panthers to 7-5 this season and 4-3 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contests.

 

 

On Jan. 12, Heath, a Triton Central graduate, scored 10 points and added one rebound, one assist and two steals to help Hanover win at Franklin, 65-59.

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

 

 

Maya Chandler

The Triton Central graduate finished with 10 points, one rebound and three assists Saturday in Loyola’s 68-50 loss at Illinois State.

The loss dropped the Ramblers to 10-7 this season and 2-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).

On Thursday, Chandler hit a career high five three-pointers and scored 19 points to lead Loyola to a 48-41 win at Bradley. She also had five rebounds, three assists and one steal.

 

 

Rylie Stephens

The Triton Central graduate had two points Tuesday in Evansville’s 69-51 loss at Indiana State.

The Purple Aces dropped to 7-8 this season and 1-3 in the MVC.

 

 

Hayden Langkabel

The Morristown graduate scored 17 points and added four rebounds, one steal and one block Tuesday in Marian’s 82-76 win over Mt. Vernon Nazarene.

The Knights improved to 14-3 (6-3 Crossroads League).

On Saturday, Langkabel had five points, one rebound, two assists, one steal and one block in Marian’s 77-58 win at Spring Arbor.

 

 

Dalen Williams

The Waldron graduate finished fourth in the shot put competition for Franklin College Friday in the Robert H. Johnson Invitational at Wabash College.

Williams’ best throw in the finals was 12.18 meters.

Madisen Hinderliter

The Shelbyville graduate finished eighth in the weight throw competition for St. Francis (Ind.) in the Sean Brady Alumni Invitational Saturday at Trine University.

Hinderliter’s best throw was 12.15 meters.

 

 

Kenneth Gipson

The Triton Central graduate placed ninth in the shot put and 12th in the weight throw for Rose-Hulman Friday in the Friday Night Spikes Opener hosted by Rose-Hulman.

Gipson’s best throws were 35 feet, five inches in the shot put and 33-3 in the weight throw.
