Class 2A, No. 8 Triton Central secures road win at Covenant Christian

Class 2A, No. 8 Triton Central ended a rare two-game losing streak Wednesday at Covenant Christian.

Head coach Bryan Graham inserted sophomore center Brooklyn Bailey into the starting lineup and she responded with a game-high 14-point performance to lead the Tigers to a 62-27 victory over the Warriors.

Three Triton Central players scored in double digits as the Tigers topped 60 points for the first time in nine games.

Olivia Faust hit three three-pointers on the way to 13 points and Lizzie Graham had 12. Hallie Schweitzer finished with nine.

Triton Central led 14-7 after one quarter and 30-13 at halftime then limited the Warriors (5-13) to 14 second-half points.

The Tigers, now 16-4, connected on 14 of 16 free throws and made six 3s in its best offensive performance since mid-December.

Ella Crane led Covenant Christian with nine points. Avery Reichart and Mia Gamble each had six in the loss.

Triton Central hosts its annual “Pink Out” game Friday against Oldenburg Academy (7-11). Rock Creek Academy was the original opponent but had to abruptly cancel and the Twisters filled the spot.

The “Pink Out” game annually raises more than $10,000 for the Indiana Women In Need (IWIN) foundation that disperses the money raised locally to help families dealing with breast cancer.

The event includes a silent auction, a guest speaker and a parade of survivors in front of a packed gymnasium.
