Collegiate Update: Bringle, Sycamores split doubleheader at Purdue

TeAnn Bringle went 1-for-3 with a run scored Tuesday in Indiana State’s 6-2 win at Purdue. The win was the first for the Sycamores over Purdue since 2018.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Shelbyville graduate had a double and scored a run in a 9-2 loss.

Indiana State won its home opener Sunday over Illinois Chicago, 13-0. Bringle went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored in the Missouri Valley Conference contest.

The Sycamores swept a doubleheader Monday, 9-1 and 12-2.

Indiana State is 14-12 this season.

Madalyn Hudnall

The Waldron graduate placed 19th in the women’s shot put competition for Mount St. Joseph University Friday in the Emory Spring Break Classic in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hudnall’s best throw went 33 feet, 11.25 inches.

 

 

Abby Eberhardt

The Triton Central graduate had a pinch-hit double Tuesday for Manchester University’s softball program in a 6-3 loss to Gustavus Adolphus in Clermont, Florida.

Manchester opened Tuesday with an 8-7 win over Middlebury.

On Monday, the Spartans opened the day with an 11-6 loss to Bowdoin before securing an 8-0 victory over Lawrence. Eberhardt went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Manchester is 5-3 this season.

 

 

Damon Lux

The Shelbyville graduate had a double, a walk and was hit by a pitch in Duke’s 19-3 win Tuesday over Towson.

Duke won a three-game series at Clemson with a doubleheader split Saturday and an 11-8 win Sunday. Lux delivered a three-run home run Sunday in Duke’s 5-run ninth inning to secure the ACC victory.

Lux went 2-for-5 in game two Saturday that Clemson won 14-9.

Duke is 13-7 this season.

 

 

Cory Taylor

The Shelbyville graduate had a walk and scored a run Tuesday in Eastern Michigan’s 9-7 loss at Butler.

On Sunday, Taylor had a two-run home run, his fourth of the season, in Eastern Michigan’s 14-3 win over Western Michigan in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The three-game series was moved to Bowling Green due to inclement weather in Michigan. Taylor went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two stolen bases Saturday in a 5-4 loss in game one.

Eastern Michigan is 10-7.

 

 

Katie Mathies

The Shelbyville graduate was 1-for-3 with a double Sunday in DePauw’s 2-0 loss to Transylvania in the Transylvania Pioneer Classic.

The Tigers are 14-9.

On Saturday, Mathies finished 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in a 10-5 loss to Defiance.

 

 

Morgan Stieneker

The Shelbyville graduate went 1-for-1 with a stolen base, a run scored and a RBI Friday for IUPUC in a 10-2 win over Dallas Christian.

Earlier Friday, Stieneker had two hits in a 13-4 loss to Concordia (Michigan).

IUPUC is 5-16.

 

 

Hannah File

The Shelbyville graduate had two hits, a walk and scored two runs Tuesday in Louisville’s 10-1 win at Eastern Kentucky.

The Cardinals swept Pittsburgh over the weekend to improve to 4-2 in ACC games. File had a two-run home run Friday in a 12-2 victory.

File finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs Sunday in a 9-6 win.

Louisville is 19-9.

 

 

Layton Stieneker

Marian defeated Franklin College 8-1 Tuesday.

Stieneker, a Shelbyville graduate, lost a No. 4 singles match to Jake Giles, 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, Stieneker and Dustin Garrison lost 8-3 to Giles and Shadi Al Tori.

On Saturday, Adrian College defeated Franklin, 6-3.

Stieneker was defeated at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-3 by Zachary Perry. Stieneker and Garrison suffered an 8-1 loss to Brandon Falk and Luke Holowinski.

Franklin College is 3-8.
