Elementary school track and field champions crowned

Coulston Elementary won the city elementary girls track and field championship Tuesday while Loper Elementary (photo) was crowned champions of the boys meet held at Shelbyville High School.

Mia Boger had two event wins for Coulston and was runner-up in another individual event. Boger won the long jump (six feet, 11 inches, tied the elementary meet record) and the 100-meter dash (15.76 seconds). She also placed second in the 400 (1:22.38).

Coulston’s Kayley Nigh was second in the softball throw (88-01) while teammate Evelyn Driscoll won the 1,600 in 7:14.41.

Coulston also finished second in the 400 relay and 1,600 relay.

 

 

Other event winners in the girls meet were Loper’s Cortney Bowers (softball throw, 98-4) and Stella Cunningham (photo) (400 in 1:22.13), St. Joseph’s Maggie Kolkmeier (800 in 3:28.45) and Hendricks’ Aria Buis (200 in 33.91).

Hendricks won the 400 relay. St. Joseph took first in the 1,600 relay.

Coulston tallied 48 points to finish first. St. Joseph was second at 29 with Hendricks and Loper tying for third at 28.

Loper scored 48 points to capture the boys title. Coulston was runner-up at 39 ahead of Hendricks (28) and St. Joseph (21).

Loper received first-place points from Parker Keith (long jump, 6-6), Levi Brown (100 in 15.95) and Devrion Egypt (800 in 3:08.74).

Loper also won the 400 relay.

Other events winners were Coulston’s Max Lockridge (173-1 in softball throw), St Joseph’s Harrison Fischer (1:19.15 in 400) and Beckam Lee (6:50.99 in 1,600) and Hendricks’ Jake Fewell (32.38 in 200).

Coulston won the 1,600 relay.
