Girls Basketball State Tournament Pairings Show to air on GIANT fm

The Indiana High School Athletic Association will air the 49th Annual Girls Basketball State Tournament Pairings Show Sunday.

The pairings show will set the pairings for girls basketball sectionals in all four IHSAA classes.

Bob Lovell and Greg Rakestraw will host the show that will air exclusively on IHSAAtv.org at 5 p.m. Sunday.

The show also can be heard on the affiliates of the IHSAA Champions Network which includes GIANT fm (96.5 fm, 106.3 fm, 1520 am or the GIANT fm app) in Shelbyville.

Shelby County’s five girls basketball programs will compete in one of three sectionals.

 

 

Class 4A, Sectional 14

Whiteland is the host site for a six-team sectional that includes Shelbyville.

Class 4A, No. 7 Franklin (17-2) is the defending sectional champion. The Grizzly Cubs defeated Shelbyville in the 2023 sectional championship game.

The Golden Bears, at 13-7, have the second most wins in the sectional.

Columbus North (10-10) is the only other team with double-digit wins.

Whiteland (9-10), East Central (7-14) and Columbus East (5-13) round out the sectional field.

 

 

Class 2A, Sectional 42

The five-team field at the Indianapolis Scecina Sectional features a pair of top-15 ranked teams.

Class 2A, No. 3 Eastern Hancock (18-1) is the defending champion and faces a potential rematch with 2A No. 14 Triton Central (15-5) at some point in the sectional. The Royals defeated Triton Central, 50-41, on Nov. 11.

The other three teams in the field are Indianapolis Riverside (3-11), Scecina (6-13) and Irvington Prep (2-11).

 

 

Class A, Sectional 60

Three teams have better-than-.500 records in the seven-team sectional hosted by Southwestern.

Class A, No. 8 Jac-Cen-Del (16-4) leads the way with 16 wins. Class A, No. 13 Oldenburg Academy (15-4) is one win back of the Eagles and South Decatur is 12-9.

Jac-Cen-Del defeated Oldenburg Academy, 44-31, on Nov. 20 and lost at South Decatur, 43-38, on Nov. 28.

The remaining four teams in the field are Morristown (8-12), Waldron (6-12), Edinburgh (3-17) and Southwestern (0-18).
