Shelbyville fell behind 20-11 at the end of the first quarter, recovered to take the lead in the third quarter but struggled to score points in the fourth and lost their final Hoosier Heritage Conference game of the season 51-42.
Class 3A, No. 6 Delta (17-6, 3-4 HHC) closed out the third quarter with a 41-38 lead then outscored Shelbyville (11-10, 1-6 HHC) 10-4 over the final eight minutes.
Jayden Furney and Jackson Wors each scored 13 points to lead the Eagles to their fourth straight victory. D’Amare Hood finished with 12 points.
Mar Nicholson topped the Golden Bears, who have lost four straight, with 11 points. Damon Badgley had 10 points.
Shelbyville’s final game of the regular season is tonight against Batesville (16-5). The basketball program will honor its seniors ahead of their final game at William L. Garrett Gymnasium.
GIANT fm will broadcast the varsity game. The pre-game show will air at approximately 7:15 p.m.
