Shelbyville's Claxton named All-HHC

Shelbyville sophomore Caden Claxton has been selected to the Hoosier Heritage Conference’s All-Conference Boys Basketball Team.

The guard averaged a team-leading 14.3 points and 2.4 assists per game for the Golden Bears.

Twelve players were selected All-HHC.

Also honored were Delta’s D’Amare Hood (16.9 ppg, 5 rpg) and Jackson Wors (13.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg), Greenfield-Central’s Braylon Mullins (25 ppg, 6.2 rpg) and Boston Willard (10.8 ppg, 4.8 apg), Mt. Vernon’s Julien Smith (14.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg), New Castle’s Colin Taylor (15 ppg), New Palestine’s Julius Gizzi (28.9 ppg, 8.1 rpg), Moses Haynes (11.2 ppg, 6.8 apg) and Ben Slagley (9.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg), Pendleton Heights’ Josiah Gustin (14.9 ppg, 2.4 apg), and Yorktown’s Kieran Tewari (14.9 ppg, 3 apg).

Greenfield-Central head coach Luke Meredith was named the HHC Coach of the Year.

Greenfield-Central was crowned HHC champion with a perfect 7-0 mark. The Cougars finished the season 24-1.

Mt. Vernon (15-9, 6-1 HHC) was runner-up ahead of New Palestine (22-5, 5-2 HHC), Delta (21-6, 3-4 HHC), Pendleton Heights (11-13, 3-4 HHC), New Castle (12-12, 2-5 HHC), Yorktown (14-11, 1-6 HHC) and Shelbyville (11-12, 1-6 HHC).
