Triton Central baseball moves into state coaches poll top 10

Triton Central’s 4-0 start to the baseball season has been rewarded with a top-10 ranking in the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association’s State Coaches Poll.

The Tigers are ranked No. 8 in the Class 2A poll released Monday.

Forest Park is No. 1 in 2A, edging out Hagerstown for the top spot. Mitchell is No. 3 ahead of Park Tudor, Illiana Christian, Cascade, North Posey, Triton Central, Providence and Lapel.

In Class A, Lafayette Central Catholic is top ranked ahead of Barr-Reeve, Wes-Del, North Daviess, Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, Loogootee, Indianapolis Lutheran, Kouts, Borden and Washington Township.

The 3A poll is topped by Andrean. Guerin Catholic is No. 2 followed by Brebeuf Jesuit, Indianapolis Chatard, New Prairie, Princeton, Silver Creek, South Bend St. Joseph, Evansville Memorial and Jasper.

Center Grove sits atop the 4A poll with Carmel, Noblesville, Evansville North, Floyd Central, Lake Central, Mooresville, Penn, Westfield and Fishers completing the top 10.

Three Hoosier Heritage Conference schools received votes in the 4A poll. They are Mt. Vernon, Greenfield-Central and Pendleton Heights.

Mt. Vernon begins a two-game HHC series with Shelbyville, who is off to a 3-1 start this season, today at Barnett Field.
