Prep Report: Shelbyville baseball splits HHC series with Pendleton Heights

Shelbyville scored three times in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday but could not close out the sweep of the Hoosier Heritage Conference series at Pendleton Heights.

The Arabians tied the game in the home half of the seventh, surrendered a run in the eighth but rallied again to score twice in the bottom half of the inning to steal a 10-9 victory.

Colin Axel-Adams closed out the seventh inning and allowed one unearned run in the eighth to collect the win. Ty Frakes had three hits and Clint Miller scored twice and drove in two runs for the Arabians (8-3, 4-2 HHC).

Gavyn Fisher started for Shelbyville (5-4, 3-3 HHC) and completed four innings before Dalton Jones took the mound. The junior allowed seven hits and four walks while striking out five over the final 3.2 innings.

Brock Kuhn had two hits and drove in three runs. Aiden Smith had three hits and two RBI.

Shelbyville is at Whiteland (6-3) Friday.

Baseball

Triton Central 8, Speedway 0

At Triton Central, a three-run second inning was more than enough run support for Triton Central sophomore Hayden Beaver, who pitched a two-hit shutout to improve the Tigers to 8-0 this season.

Class 2A, No. 6 Triton Central added two more runs in the fourth and three in the sixth to improve to 6-0 in the Indiana Crossroads Conference standings.

Kellan Dishman led the Tigers with three hits. Eli Sego and Beaver each had two hits and two RBI.

Triton Central travels to Charlottesville Saturday for a doubleheader against Eastern Hancock (3-6).

Softball

Beech Grove 10, Triton Central 2

A seven-run sixth inning propelled Beech Grove to the Indiana Crossroads Conference victory. The game was tied 4-all after four innings before the Hornets (11-2, 2-0 ICC) scored a run in the fifth and then broke the game open in the sixth.

Malone Moore, a Coastal Carolina commit, had three hits and four RBI and pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out seven. Harper Moore, Kylee Robinson, Aubree Bailey and Lillianna Jansen each had two hits.

Lillian Fillippinie took the loss for Triton Central (2-3, 1-1 ICC). She allowed 11 hits and struck out 11. Jayda McKee and Hailey Harris each had two hits.

The Tigers host Eastern Hancock (5-1) Friday.
